May 2-3, 2009 – Desert Winds III – 24hr+ Adventure Race
Thursday, April 30th, 2009May 2-3, 2009, Boulder City, NV
***LIVE TRACKING on TrackMe360’s Adventure Zone – Starts Saturday May 2nd at 10 AM PDT***
- The Size of this Course – This is a big course! It is very remote!
- Trekking – Teams will be trekking and running in areas that have seen maybe cowboys or miners but probably not hikers. Much of the trekking for this race might be described as being…unique.
- Adventure Swimming – If you can carry it while trekking or mtbiking, then you can use it during the swim portions. Boogie boards, fins, blow up rafts are all OK. There will be several swim sections totaling about eight (8) km of swimming. Teams will swim on open water, in hidden coves, and in long, narrow, never-swam-in-before canyons of emerald water. Last year the adventure swimming was one of the favorite sections.
- Water Temperature - By race day the water should be in the mid to high 60’s. The current water temperature: 59 derees F
- Mtbiking – The mountain biking is long and remote.Teams will be biking on roads that, except for the bikes of the race staff (i.e. mine), have never seen mtbikes.
- Post Race Party – all you can eat and drink.
