OffRoving Great Divide 4 – Land Rover Adventure

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

July 23-27, 2009 – Ouray & Leadville, CO

offroving

Starting July 21st 2009, OffRoving’s annual pilgrimage to the rocks and ruts of the great continental divide will be tracked in real-time on TrackMe360’s Adventure Zone.  The four daily routes are laid out on the map, and you will be able to follow their progress Live!

In this, our fourth year we will be sleeping under the stars with the calming sounds of alpine lakes in the background. This year’s trip is a camping-only with a requested preference for roof top tents for a much speedier set-up and break-down of camp each day. Those interested in purchasing the new Overland Accessories roof-top tent in the exclusive orange/black G4 color combination may do so when they register for the GD4. When your GD4 registration and tent are paid in full you will receive a $150 rebate immediately.

Each day will present us with a new location to set camp as we make our way to the National Rally in Leadville, CO 7/28 – 8/1. Those who opt to continue on to the Rally with us will be in good company and invited to display their vehicles [and Overland Accessories tents] in our Expo Area.

The trip begins in the Ouray area while we take on resume trails one would expect. Here is a tentative itinerary we may take:

  • Poughkeepsie Gulch and Black Bear Pass
  • Marble to Crested Butte over Pearl Pass to Aspen
  • Once at the Rally, we’ll run trails with fellow Rover-Heads, ideally as agroup but not at all required
  • Possibly a surprise or two on the way to Leadville

Mountain-O GPS Race #3: Desolation Wilderness

Registration is closed!

Results are posted here.

GPS Race #3: Desolation Wilderness

Our third TrackMe360 GPS Race takes place in the Desolation Wilderness, near Wrights Lake, off Hwy50 between Placerville and South Lake Tahoe. Three courses of varying degrees of challenge (short, medium and long) have been designed to showcase the best the area has to offer, with moderate vertical gain and some cross country travel. The navigational challenge is partly about route choice but also about cross country navigation and efficient route finding across complicated terrain. The short course will offer more on-trail options, than the other courses.  The venue is nothing short of spectacular. The courses takes you through coniferous forest lands, through sparsely tree covered granite slab slopes onto steeper, rockier alpine terrain. On the long course, a little snow remains up high, and can be used to the racers advantage. Many streams and lakes are encountered on the course- water is plentiful. The long course features an epic ridge traverse with views both into the Lake Tahoe basin and the Central Valley.

Live Tracking at Untamed New England (July 9-12)

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

une_banner

TrackMe360 is providing GPS trackers to teams at the 2009 Untamed New England 3-day adventure race.  Starting on July 9th at Noon, fans, family and friends can follow their favorite teams live at the Live Tracking portal.

Untamed New England is an AR Worlds Championship qualifier, and podium finishers can move on to compete in the AR World Championships in Portugal in December.

For three days, July 9-12 2009, teams will race non-stop through the mountains, rivers, and forests of Untamed New England. They must travel under their own power. Teams will navigate with map and compass through pine forests, wetlands, and mountains; paddle rivers fed by melting snow; bike staggering mountain passes and twisty trails; dangle from ropes on exposed cliff faces.

The racing is non-stop until they cross the finish line. There are no aid stations, no support crews, no specified “rest” periods; it’s just the team, totally self-sufficient, against the Untamed New England course.

TrackMe360 has also sponsored one of the teams in this year’s race – Team TrackMe360.com.

Team TrackMe360 at Untamed New England (July 9-12)

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

TrackMe360 is sponsoring an amazing group of athletes to compete in the AR Worlds Championship qualifier Untamed New England.  This non-stop, 70 hr adventure race will take competitors through mosquito and gnat infested bogs, up and down rugged mountains, and down and across lakes and rivers, using only the gear and food they can carry, and their wit.  Our team consists of Thomas Bastis (captain), Mats Jansson (navigator), Susan Bower (logistics), and Susannah Cantrell (health and first aid).  The fun starts on July 9th, and with the help of TrackMe360, the race will be featuring Live GPS Tracking, so fans, family and friends can follow along.
